Associate Pastor (Youth)
Job Description:
Overview

Moosomin Baptist Church is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our team as a full time Associate Pastor with a specific focus on youth ministry. While the main focus will be on youth and their families, the Associate Pastor will function as a part of the pastoral team and will be expected to serve in a pastoral capacity for the entire church body.
The specific duties beyond youth will be determined by the church leadership based on the Associate Pastor’s skills and giftings. As such, this job description functions as guide, and will be altered to best fit the strengths of both the person hired and the needs of MBC.

The ideal candidate will be committed to nurturing the spiritual growth and development of our youth, fostering a vibrant and inclusive community, and equipping them to live out their faith everyday. This role will involve leading and coordinating various youth programs, discipleship activities, and outreach initiatives to engage young people aged 12 to 18 and their families. The Associate Pastor would also provide oversight and resourcing to (though not necessarily direct involvement with) the Children’s Ministry team.

Responsibilities:

(specific allocation of time to be determined at the time of hiring)

  1. Youth Ministry Leadership:

    • Build on an existing program, by continuing to develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategy for youth ministry aligned with the church's overall mission and values.

    • Provide pastoral care, guidance, and support to youth and their families.

    • Plan, organize, and lead engaging youth programs, events, and activities, including regular youth group meetings, retreats, camps, mission trips, and other special events.

    • Facilitate relevant Bible studies, discipleship programs, and small groups to promote spiritual growth among the youth.

    • Foster an atmosphere of inclusivity, love, and respect, ensuring that all participants feel welcomed and valued within the church community.

    • Recruit, train, and disciple volunteers to assist with leading of the program.

  2. Outreach and Community Engagement:

    • Develop relationships with local schools, organizations, and families to reach youth in the wider community and invite them to participate in church activities.

    • Collaborate with church leaders and volunteers to develop and execute effective strategies for evangelism and discipleship within the youth ministry.

    • Provide mentorship, leadership development, and service opportunities for young leaders within the youth ministry.

  3. Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the Lead Pastor and other church staff members to ensure alignment of youth ministry with the overall vision and direction of the church.

    • Collaborate with volunteers and leaders within the youth ministry, providing support, training, and guidance.

    • Participate in regular staff meetings, church planning sessions, and relevant committees.

    • As a member of the pastoral team, assist with preaching, service leading, pastoral care, and other such ministerial functions as appropriate (dependent on calling and giftings, and in consultation with the Lead Pastor and church leadership).

Qualifications:
  • A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a personal and growing relationship with Him.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Theology, Christian Ministry, or a related field is preferred, though not required. Candidates currently pursuing, or planning to pursue, theological education are encouraged to apply.

  • Previous experience in youth ministry leadership or a related role is highly desirable.

  • Strong biblical knowledge and the ability to effectively communicate and promote deeper understanding of Scripture to youth.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with youth and build meaningful relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and lead volunteers.

  • A passion for the spiritual development of youth and a desire to see them grow in their faith.

  • A creative and innovative mindset to develop engaging and relevant youth programs.

  • Suitable organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to plan and execute events and activities effectively.
